New dating app lets socialites see the party before they arrive (Includes interview)

Who says you can’t see the future. There is a new mobile app that can let you see the future when it comes to nightlife.

Weepo is the first and only mobile app that allows singles to see how a restaurant, lounge, club or party is before the night even begins. It takes users into the social venue, showing them Facebook profiles of people who have checked-in. It also allows users to privately message each other if they both connect.

Weepo was created by a former nightclub promoter, Roy Lugasi, who realized there had to be a better way to promote clubs. His invention was a mixture of Tinder meets nightlife.

Lugasi says Weepo is a great tool for commuter cities like Los Angeles, Miami or Vegas where people have to drive 30-minutes to an hour to see the scene. He says it’s even better in New York City where partiers can avoid the expensive $20 cover by seeing how the club is before they walk inside.

“Weepo is the only app that can tell users what a lounge or club will be like before the night even begins,” Lugasi told Digital Journal. “Every guy in New York has been disappointed after he paid an expensive cover, walked into a club, only to see it is empty or filled with guys. You avoid that with Weepo.”

Weepo also lets users communicate with other users at the same venue via private messaging if they both “connect.” This allows users to find and connect with others in real time at a restaurant, club or party – even if they’re sitting in opposite ends of the place.

Weepo is already becoming a new networking tool at conferences.

Skift recently wrote about how techies were using Weepo at the biggest tech conferences in the US – TechCrunch Disrupt in New York and Collision in New Orleans. Lugasi said more than 1000 users signed up for Weepo during the Collision Conference.

Weepo has some big named backers. Jared Morgenstern, the creator behind the Facebook “Like” button and one of the original early founders of Facebook, is financially backing the app.

So does Lugasi think his app will be the next Facebook?

“We are talking to investors and there’s a lot of interest in our app because we have valuable information every nightclub, bar, lounge or restaurant wants – where consumers say they are going,” Lugasi said. “These restaurant and club owners realize our app can reach people who have already made up their minds that they are going out. And for users, it’s even better because clubs can give drink specials or no cover charge to people who show up from Weepo.”

Weepo is available free on the App Store and Google Play.
