TORONTO, CANADA – Naked News introduced the winners of its Los Angeles auditions at a press conference held this morning at the Elan Hotel Modern. Aiko Tanaka and Julian Bryce join the news program with “nothing to hide” as its first Los Angeles-based news correspondents, and will make their debut on NakedNews.com later this month.
Aiko Tanaka, age 25, will cover fitness, fashion, food, and California culture. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Aiko came to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and has appeared on Malcom & Eddie, Soul Train and The Man Show. She is also a kickboxer and certified personal trainer. While watching the evening news, Aiko learned that Naked News was auditioning for webcasters in Los Angeles and the rest is history. She speaks Japanese and English, and is learning Spanish.
Julian Bryce, age 28, will report on major news events, with an emphasis on entertainment industry stories. A native of Saginaw, MI, Julian now lives in West Hollywood, CA. He has diverse experience in the areas of television entertainment news production, film publicity, and talent and literary representation. Looking to expand his career opportunities, Julian heard about Naked News’ auditions and decided to give it a try. He becomes the first webcaster hired with a news background.
On August 1 and 2, 2001, Naked News held its first auditions outside of Toronto in Los Angeles. Over a thousand queries were received, and two additional days were added to the interview schedule. Naked News weather anchor, Gretchen Frazier, and Naked Broadcasting Network Inc. vice president, Kathy Pinckert, met with over 250 people. Nine women and nine men were called back, which entailed a second reading of the news, nude.
“Aiko and Julian are both bright, energetic people,” said Kathy Pinckert, “and really made a keen impression on us. With their diverse backgrounds and talent, they will be a welcome addition to the Naked News team.”
“Naked News will soon take the leap from Internet to cable television,” remarked Pinckert, “and there is also a movie project on the horizon. We hope to hire more people soon, including foreign correspondents in Europe and Asia, as well as other US cities.”
Naked News TV! will focus on a wide range of topics, including Canadian News, International News, US News, Business, Sports, Entertainment, Health, Science & Technology, Good Life, and Fringe News. Naked News webcasters Victoria Sinclair, Carmen Russo, Holly Weston, Alison Jones, Lily Kwan, Devon Calwell, Gretchen Frazier, and Sandrine Renard will be featured on Naked News TV!
