The Keeping up with the Kardashians star took to Instagram to show how to look good while pregnant and outright stated that she was not using plastic surgery. Recent photographs of Kardashian showed that her face appeared to be thicker than normal, which had spurred rumors that she was using Botox.
“No I don’t do fillers or Botox when pregnant like some tabloids are reporting,” she said on Instagram. “You would have to be really sick to endanger your child like that!”
Kardashian said that her thicker face was just a natural result of pregnancy, and that “my nose gets bigger, cheeks fuller and my lips swell up.” She also mentioned how she had to adjust her makeup routine in order to feel normal and still look good.
Kim did use Botox back in 2010. In a clip from “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, she reacted very badly to the procedure’s aftermath, as she wore an ice pack and noted that it felt like her eyes were on fire. But it is apparent that the rumors are just rumors and that she has not taken Botox out of concerns for her child’s health.
There is currently no data which explicitly shows that pregnant woman risk harming their baby by using Botox. However, many dermatologists and other plastic surgeons will not give pregnant woman non-essential drugs or surgery to prevent risk. As many drugs can become part of a mother’s breast milk, it is possible that the drugs used in Botox treatments may be given to a child, which would likely be toxic.
Kim is currently four months along with her second child, which is expected to be a boy. She tweeted the announcement of the child’s gender to her husband Kanye West and the world on June 22. The couple are clearly happy that their first child, a 2-year old daughter named North, will be getting a little brother.
