MEDICA is the world’s largest medical event held in Germany on November 14 – 17 that consists of a 40-years-old trade fair where global experts in medicine gather to learn about the latest news in hospital and clinical technology. The exhibition will also include a vast interdisciplinary forum as well as several conferences on secondary topics such as sports, disaster and military medicine, hospital communication and physiotherapy.

Israel’s leader high-tech companies in healthcare and medical IT fields will be presented in the Israeli booth, where they are going to showcase their latest innovation in terms of futuristic medical devices and groundbreaking discoveries. The cooperation between the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Health and the Export Institute is going to coordinate more than 60 top technology companies. These will show to the world some breakthrough innovations in medical science such as Motorika’s robotic arm, GlucoMe’s latest wireless Blood Glucose Monitor and Medasense Biometrics’ objective pain monitoring solutions. The Israeli government is the only one who will support its delegation to the conference.

The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI)’s Life Science Department is devoted to identifying and matching business partners from the Israeli life science industry and the Government itself. The department is, in fact, responsible for the successful organization and management of the Israeli National Pavilion at MEDICA as well as many other international exhibitions such as Hospitalar (Brazil) and CMEF (China). While speaking about the institute’s history, Tomer Epstein, Manager of Medical Device and HIT within the IEICI, told us that: “The Medical Device & HealthCare IT Industry in Israel is growing rapidly, with around 80 new companies joining in each year. There are several fields of medicine of which Israel is considered to be a global tech leader, such as: Telemedicine, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation, Cardiology, Wound Care & Management and more.

We got the opportunity to get a sneak peek on one of the upcoming solutions provided by QinFlow Ltd, one of the leading medical technology companies featured in MEDICA’s Israeli Pavilion. QinFlow is presenting the Warrior, a new portable blood and IV fluid warming device that could grant immediate transfusion, potentially saving countless lives.

The Warrior provides front end rescue teams, first response teams, critical care transport teams and emergency care professionals within various hospital settings with a high performance, reliable, simple to operate, and completely portable blood and IV fluid warming device that operates flawlessly in all environmental conditions in order to fight hypothermia and save lives.”

Will your device be integrated hospital systems?
Per above, the product supports the entire continuum of emergency care, hospitals included (e.g. ER, Trauma, OR, ICU).

Will your device be also available for home care or personal services?
No, the device will not be available for home care or personal services.

How is your new device going to change the current scenario of its pertaining clinical field?
The Warrior offers unprecedented speed of warming (within seconds), portability, ease of use (one button, no maintenance, no calibration, no spare parts…) and performance (wide warming range, supporting high flows) which allows, for the first time, to provide warm blood and IV immediately in all emergency settings.

Has your device been already tested “on the field” in a clinical trial or real-world setting?
The Warrior is being used by tens of end users in life-saving missions on a daily basis across the entire continuum of emergency care (prehospital, hospital) with very high satisfaction levels.
