In Japan, Burger King has teamed up with Microsoft to promote a heart attack-inducing hamburger: the seven-patty “Windows 7 Whopper”, selling for 777 yen or approximately $8.50 US. The promo price is only available for seven days.
If you thought a double hamburger was too much beef to fit inside a bun, then don’t visit a Japanese Burger King anytime soon. The fast-food chain has teamed up with Microsoft, the tech firm responsible for the latest OS release Windows 7, to introduce to Japan eaters a burger complete with seven beef patties and measuring five-inches tall.
Beginning today, the Windows 7 Whopper will be available to the first 30 customers for the next week at 777 yen but afterward, the price will skyrocket to 1,450 yen, almost double the promotional cost, Slashfood reports.
This partnership is unique for Microsoft’s Windows 7 publicity stunts. The company’s main marketing efforts centred around Windows 7 launch parties and a widely visible ad campaign with Family Guy characters.
No word yet if this seven-patty mega-Whopper will make its way to North American Burger King outlets. But earlier this month, Burger King announced it would make over thousands of its North American stores, saying the “new interior will rotate red flame chandeliers, high-definition TV-screen menus and a more industrial feel to the walls.”
