Rudy Bundini chatted about being a fashion model in the digital age, and he furnished his advice for young and emerging models.

In this exclusive interview, Bundini takes us behind the scenes of his life as a fashion model in the industry, who is living in New York.

New York City is the mecca of the fashion world, where careers are made—or broken—on the runway. Behind the flashing cameras and high-fashion moments lies a world of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Few know this better than Rudy Bundini, a New York-based fashion model, social influencer, and a former boxing heavyweight champion.

Background on Rudy Bundini

Bundini has been named “Male Model of the Year” by the International Modeling & Talent Association (IMTA). He has worked with some of the most prestigious brands and has been spotlighted on countless runways.

What does a typical day in your life look like as a model?

Modeling isn’t just about showing up to a photoshoot and striking a pose—it’s a full-time commitment. My day starts with a structured workout that includes strength training, boxing drills, and cardio to maintain peak physical condition.

Modeling is just as demanding as any sport; your body is your brand, and you have to stay disciplined.

After breakfast, my day depends on my schedule. Some days are filled with castings, fittings, and fashion events, while others involve shooting campaigns or walking runways.

What is the casting process like, and how do you handle the competition?

Castings can take up an entire day, and even as an established model, there’s always competition. Sometimes, you walk into a room filled with hundreds of models, and you have 30 seconds to make an impression. It takes confidence and preparation.

Rejection is part of the game. You learn to take every ‘no’ as motivation. Every rejection brings you closer to the right opportunity.

Fashion Week must be intense. What is it like behind the scenes?

Fashion Week is one of the busiest times of the year. The energy backstage is electric—stylists, designers, and models are all working in sync to create something magical.

It’s high-pressure because everything needs to be perfect. The walk, the look, the attitude—it’s all carefully curated.

One second of distraction can cost you everything. But once you step on the runway, the adrenaline takes over.

How does it feel to be a fashion model in the digital world?

The industry has changed a lot because of social media and digital marketing. Today, being a model isn’t just about working with agencies or brands—it’s also about building your own platform.

Clients look at engagement, personality, and influence, not just your portfolio.

It’s exciting but also challenging. You have to stay active, create content, and interact with your audience. If you know how to use digital platforms effectively, it can open even more doors.

In what fields or sectors can models be employed?

Modeling isn’t just limited to runway and fashion campaigns. Models can work in commercial advertising, fitness, lifestyle, luxury brands, and even corporate marketing.

There are opportunities in TV, film, e-commerce, and social media influencing. Many models also get into brand endorsements, fitness coaching, or entrepreneurship. The key is to stay versatile and open to new opportunities.

Would you consider going into acting?

Absolutely. Acting is a natural transition for many models because we already work with cameras, expressions, and movement. I’ve had some opportunities in the past and would love to explore it further.

Acting requires a different skill set, so I respect the craft and the training that goes into it. If the right project comes along, I’d definitely be interested.

What does it take to thrive in the competitive world of modeling?

It’s a mix of work ethic, versatility, and networking. You have to treat modeling like a business. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about branding yourself, making connections, and constantly evolving.

Social media has changed the game. Your online presence is just as important as your portfolio. Clients want to see engagement, personality, and influence.

You were a boxing champion before modeling. How has that influenced your career?

Boxing taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of hard work—qualities that apply directly to modeling.

Success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to earn it, stay consistent, and push through setbacks.

What advice do you have for aspiring models?

The fashion industry is competitive, but if you put in the effort, stay resilient, and adapt, you’ll find your place under the spotlight. Never underestimate the power of persistence and professionalism.

American author and speaker John C. Maxwell once said: “”Dreams don’t work unless you do.” Rudy Bundini embodies this wise quote.

Rudy Bundini’s journey proves that modeling is not solely about looking good—it’s about perseverance, hustling, dedication, and having an unbreakable drive to succeed.

His story is a testament to the reality that behind every polished magazine cover is someone who has worked tirelessly to earn their place.
