Interview: Author Kiros Pantelis discusses new book, reiki (Includes interview)

He has been a life coach for well over two decades. “I learned reiki first. Before that, I was into self-taught yoga and meditation. I had an interest in yoga my whole life. I thought healers were more about the path,” he said. “Reiki is a Japanese technique that was brought over in Hawaii and it is different from the original form. Through the years, it has transitioned here in America. The practitioner will lay on different parts of the body. It will start from your head and face and it is hands-on form of transmitted energy and your body takes it.”

Regarding his new book, he said, “It is a book that took me close to five years to write. It is my journey. The journey of healing, my discoveries and my trials and errors. It’s a semi-bio that translates my short journey in the healing world.”

When asked if he has enough material for a second book, he said, “I have a lot of material from my first book, about 80 pages that didn’t go into publishing. I am always learning daily, so I may not have enough material for a new book, but if I put my focus into it, I’m sure I’ll have more material and more thoughts that I could expand on from my first book. I just published my book about four months ago.”

For Pantelis, the hardest part for writing this book, was putting it all together. “You speak from a Greek perspective and you need to translate your thoughts into English, which makes you a little bit dyslexic. Three years ago I met somebody who was able to help me with that. The other challenge was going through the process of publishing. The feedback that I have gotten has been positive so far, since the people can relate to the stories,” he said.

Each day, Pantelis is motivated by everyday life. “Everything motivates me. I don’t look at the weather if it is rainy or sunny, it is beautiful every day. When I do this work and help people find themselves and their individualities. Also, my children motivate me in a good way,” he said.
