Heather Rae El Moussa is a TV personality, entrepreneur, social influencer and mother. She opened up up about her health and wellness journey — from pregnancy to postpartum to parenting a blended family — and how she manages it all while staying energized and present.

How does it feel to be a social influencer in the digital age? (Now with streaming, technology, and social media being so prevalent).

Being a social influencer in the digital age is wildly empowering and rewarding but also incredibly demanding. With streaming, technology and social media evolving so fast, it feels like if you blink, you could miss something. At the same time, there’s pressure.

Algorithms change, trends shift overnight and you’re constantly adapting just to stay relevant. It’s not just about posting pretty pictures anymore, it’s about building a brand, telling a story, engaging authentically and being everywhere all at once. But I love it.

It has given me a platform to connect with amazing people, work with brands I believe in, like Orgain, and create content that actually inspires and speaks to my audience.

What motivates you each day?

I just want to be the happiest and healthiest version of myself – for me, my husband and my kids. That’s why small things, like having a wellness routine and eating healthy by ensuring I have enough protein in my diet, are so important to me.

What wellness rituals have kept you grounded during pregnancy and postpartum?

Water, sleep, exercise, skincare/self-care and eating plant based are all really important to me. My protein intake while I was pregnant was also top of mind, and postpartum I loved Orgain’s Vegan Organic Nutrition Shakes because they’re perfect for on-the-go and really made a positive impact on my life when I needed it most!

I was and still am a huge fan of protein bars, protein drinks and smoothies – they were (and are) daily staples for me.

What are some high-protein meals your whole family loves?

I often add Orgain Plant-Based Protein Powder to smoothies; we mix it into vegan yogurt for fresh fruit parfaits and sometimes I stir it into oatmeal for a protein and nutrient boost.

My kids also love Orgain’s Mini Snack Waffle recipe which can be found on Orgain’s website.

It uses the Vanilla Plant-Protein Kid’s Nutrition Shake and makes for a perfect breakfast or after-school snack! You can find their products on Amazon, the Orgain website, Whole Foods and Costco.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’m continuing to grow in the real estate world through our HGTV shows The Flipping El Moussas and The Flip Off, as well as off-camera—flipping homes is something I truly love, and I’m constantly learning new things in that space.

I’m also focused on taking my beauty and skincare brand, Heather Rae Essentials, to the next level.

Skincare has always been important to me, and I’m excited to keep building something that shares my passion for beauty and self-care and be able to share them with the world.

What are your portable “mom-on-the-go” pantry picks?

We always keep Orgain’s Vanilla and Chocolate Kid’s Protein Shakes in our pantry – they have 8 grams of grass-fed protein and 22 essential nutrients so they’re perfect for on-the-go or an afterschool snack, and my kids think they are delicious, so that’s a plus!

We also love gluten-free pretzels, fresh fruit, healthy crackers and chips, protein bars, almonds, and water to stay hydrated.

How has your partnership with Orgain been? What’s it like to use the Protein Calculator?

I’ve been using Orgain products for years, so it’s really been a dream. Their products are great because they’re convenient and perfect for on-the-go.

I’m always running out the door, so Orgain is an easy way to get protein in—especially during postpartum while breastfeeding when I needed to keep my protein intake up for milk production.

As a vegan, the number one question I get asked is how I meet my protein requirements, so Orgain’s new Protein Calculator is a great tool to help you understand how much protein you should be consuming in all of these different stages of life.

The ability to customize the settings on the calculator if you’re pregnant or postpartum or even in menopause or perimenopause is so helpful because our bodies need different things during all of these different stages.

How do you balance family, fitness, and filming?

Planning ahead is key to juggling all the moving pieces! I also always make sure I have three nutritious meals a day with healthy snacks and I always include protein in the morning to help sustain my energy.

What does the word success mean to you? (My favorite question)

As a public figure and influencer with a platform, success to me means always being the most authentic version of myself.
