Five-Star Awards For The St. Regis And Lespinasse Restaurant

WHITE PLAINS – Exxon Mobil Corporation announced the recipients of the prestigious 2001 Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star Awards and have again included The St. Regis, New York and its fine-dining
restaurant, Lespinasse. The St. Regis Hotel is owned by White Plains-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan at East 55th Street and Fifth Avenue, The St. Regis was built in 1904 by Colonel John Jacob Astor and is a
landmark building in the classic Beaux Arts tradition. Both the hotel and its
signature restaurant, Lespinasse, have been bestowed with many awards in the
past, including the Triple A Five Diamond Award as well as the Mobil Five-Star
Award.

Last year, Lespinasse was rated one of the top ten dining experiences in
the country in Wine Spectator’s year 2000 edition of America’s Best
Restaurants, stating that, “Lespinasse has become the best expression of
classic French cuisine in the city, if not the country.” Named for
Mademoiselle Julie de Lespinasse, who hosted some of the most celebrated
salons in Paris during the Enlightenment in the eighteenth century, Lespinasse
provides a carefully orchestrated dining experience to combine the best food,
service and ambiance for its guests.

The Mobil Travel Guide ratings committee — an independent network of
national culinary and hospitality experts, which evaluate lodgings and
restaurants from the traveler’s or diner’s point of view — selects the
Five-Star winners.

Starwood has the enviable distinction of having one of the only three hotels in New York City as being designated five-star hotels and the only such designation in Arizona. The Phoenician and its fine-dining restaurant, Mary Elaine’s was also a recipient of this year’s Mobil Five-Star Awards and are
also the only establishments in Arizona to earn the coveted ranking for 2001.

Starwood is one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world
with more than 725 properties in 80 countries and 120,000 employees at its
owned and managed properties. With internationally renowned brands, Starwood
is a fully integrated owner, operator and franchiser of hotels and resorts
including: St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by
