Digital Journal’s Site of the Week Hits a Homer Run

Digital Journal — The Site of the Week Award belongs to AllSimps.com, a streaming-video site housing 18 seasons of The Simpsons, completely free. Is this a dream?

Most likely, this site won’t be up for long, so refrain from spilling the beans to your uncle who works at 20th Century Fox. But the existence of Springfield repository says a lot about our TV culture: the Web has become the new feeding ground for nostalgic and new material.

Sure, the episodes on AllSimps.com might look grainy compared to their DVD-quality cousins, but netizens are prepared to sacrifice superficiality for access. After all, if this site exists, what’s going to stop copy-cats such as ComprehensiveWonderYears.com?

For now, I heartily congratulate the webmaster at the Simpsons video site. Fans of the never-ending cartoon can enjoy any episode any time, satisfying their hunger when BitTorrent downloads just won’t cut it. Deep Space Homer, here I come!
