Digital Journal — GlobalAware is a media organization working for global, social and environmental justice. As a non-profit group of volunteers, GlobalAware combines the talent of photographers, writers, educators, videographers and Web designers to produce provocative media in the hope of promoting positive change in the world.
Based in Toronto, GlobalAware aims to provide Canadians with concrete outlets for active global citizenship, stressing both environmental and human rights. Often collaborating with non-governmental organizations and like-minded social activists, GlobalAware displays photography exhibits and designs postcards featuring their most stunning photos. As a business watchdog, GlobalAware monitors and reports on their website unethical business practices perpetrated by Canadian companies.
Some recent campaigns GlobalAware has spearheaded have focused on independent media, sustainability, fair trade, corporate accountability and Canada-Ecuador relations.
