D.R. Casselman chatted about her book series “Tales of Narda,” and being an author in the digital age.

Helen Keller once said: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched — they must be felt with the heart.” This quote applies to D.R. Casselman.

Inspiration to write this novel series

On her inspiration to write “Tales of Narda,” she said, “I have read books all of my life, in many genres, but I particularly enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, mystery and action.”

“So, I would have to say a love of reading and a desire to share my creative imagination with others who like to read, take them on a journey; this probably most inspired me to write the novel series,” she explained.

Daily motivations as an author

Regarding her daily inspirations as an author, she said, “I try to make time each day to write and create on the next part of the story.”

“When I run into a roadblock, I look at a quote from J.K Rowling posted on my wall about how sometimes ideas come and sometimes one has to sweat and bleed to make them come. I’ve done both,” she exclaimed.

Lessons learned from writing these books

On the lessons learned from writing these books, she reflected, “I am an artist with an ability to write and share my imagination with readers who simply want to enjoy a good story.”

    Future plans

Regarding her future plans, she revealed, “I will continue to write and create on ‘Tales of Narda,’ perhaps add more books once I complete the initial series.”

“The first two books are available on Amazon and in bookstores. I will complete the third book of the series this year and the fourth sometime next year,” she added.

Advice for young and emerging authors

For young and aspiring authors, she encouraged them to “write” in an effort to hone their craft.

“Write. Develop your own style. Read other author’s books. The more you read and write, the better you become at writing. Don’t be discouraged by critics. It may be said that those who can’t write criticize,” she elaborated.

      The digital age

On being an author in the digital age, Casselman responded, “The digital age requires — for me — learning new skills.”

“I did most of my earlier book research without the use of digital. I am still learning to use new technologies to help me with research and to reach a wider audience for my books,” she explained.

      Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, she shared, “When fans write to me to say they can’t wait until the next book is out, I feel I have achieved a degree of success.

“After all, the whole point of writing my series is to share it with readers who will enjoy it and want more,” she added.

Closing thoughts on the ‘Tales of Narda’ book series

For fans and readers, Casselman expressed, “Immerse yourselves in the world of Narda. Use your own imagination when reading the series.”

“Take the adventure with the characters. Enjoy the story, and perhaps take a bit of wisdom from having read it,” she concluded.
