Why is International Women’s Month so important to you?

I think it’s important to celebrate women every day but more often than not it’s more of an expectation that we are exceptional, a mother or a CEO because well, women can do it all.

I know with my business it’s a lot of people expecting me to do incredible things because that’s what I have always shown them but it is really nice when people acknowledge your hard work without anything in return.

That, to me, is what International women’s day and month is to me – a time where instead of never feeling like you’re doing enough as a woman, finally feeling like you are.

Again this all comes from within but societal standards have always made it feel like for me personally that my body was never enough, my mind was never enough, and so on.

That is why I created Dani D. Fitness. It is more than just a “cute” or small business, it has changed thousands of lives by just existing and that is in turn how I feel about myself now. I am enough no matter size, age, but truly for just being myself.

What inspires you each day?

The idea that I can become anything or do anything I want. For so long, I lived in fear of what others thought and I was just going through the motions.

Once I started loving myself, I became free. Then it became my life’s purpose to help women and men love their body throughout movement. Watching them ‘Fight for what they want’ every day is what inspires me.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’ve always loved one-on-one personal training, but I also host my own podcast, The LYB (Love Your Body) Podcast, have my own energy supplement called Fight, and am both an author and a speaker.

I’m looking forward to more interviews, traveling for speaking engagements, and writing another book.

Were there any moments in your career that have helped define you?

Plenty of moments helped define me, whether it was getting told I was to young to start my own business or that I would be the first female trainer out on the floor, or that I would be the first of many things I did. It showed me that I had the privilege to pave the way for other strong women.

I would say that setting the example no matter how hard is what’s been the most defining thing for me. I always wanted someone to look up to and when I didn’t have that in the fitness world, I had to create it myself.

Now, I get to help others love their body through movement, whether that’s through training, speaking or my community initiatives, or through my own strength accolades: running nine half marathons, spartan races, winning strong-woman competitions, bodybuilding and growing a successful brand and being seen for my strength around the world. Needless to say  it’s been incredible.

What is your advice for young and emerging fitness personalities?I

Would say don’t follow what others are doing, stand apart. It may be lonely but stick to what you believe and stay passionate and no one will stop you from accomplishing your dreams, not even yourself.

What does the word success mean to you? (My favorite question)

Success to me means having a career that I love without it feeling like work and I can honestly say I have never worked a day in my life since I started Dani D. Fitness. I was meant to help people and as long as I am doing that I am successful.

What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

Without you there’s nothing. Thank you for believing in me, and this mission. LYB throughout!
