TORONTO (Digital Journal) — Known for producing innovative displays and TVs, BenQ Canada is now supporting two trends that have won the hearts and wallets of consumers nationwide: indie bands and digital cameras.
Maintaining a strong commitment to emerging musicians, BenQ is sponsoring a Canadian tour featuring up-and-comers such as The Waking Eyes and Boy. The BenQ Presents the Video Sound Tour is now in its West Coast stretch, playing in Edmonton on Feb.19, Vancouver on Feb. 23 and Calgary on Feb. 25.
“BenQ is proud to be involved with this concert series and support the continuous development of the latest Canadian artists,” said Jimmy Davlouros, Vice-President and General Manager of BenQ Canada.
Not resting there, BenQ also released a line of slim digital cameras to complement its display-heavy product line. The cameras start with the three-megapixel E30, featuring a 1.5-inch colour LCD screen, continuous movie recording capabilities and 14MB of built-in memory.
The E41 boasts a four-megapixel resolution and a 2-inch touch screen. A special handwriting function goes above and beyond expectations by allowing users to modify photos and add text or frames. This model supports MP3 playback and comes with a microphone and speakers.
The E43 is also a four-megapixel camera, employing a 3x optical zoom and a 32MB SD card.
The crown jewel of BenQ’s latest digicams is the five-megapixel E53, bundled with a 32MB SD card, a 2.5-inch LTPS-LCD screen and built-in speakers. All models feature a 24mm depth, and prices range from $150 to $500.
This latest foray into thin and light digital cameras comes on the heels of good news: BenQ won nine G-Mark Awards (Good Design Awards) for products including its DC 050 digital camera.
New into the digital camera market, BenQ is entering an industry with a product line that has already been well established. But with the brand recognition the company carries over from its position in the monitor and TV markets, and with its recent jump into indie music, this is an industry move worth monitoring.
