Bacon sundaes, bacon-wrapped hot dogs coming to Toronto’s CNE

The CNE, running from August 17 to September 3, will be a bacon lover’s headquarters thanks to the array of pig-related products debuting at the always-busy Food Building.

What should Torontonians expect? Deep-fried bacon-covered hot dogs, bacon parfaits, bacon sundaes, bacon popcorn and chocolate-covered bacon. In the non-bacon category, the building will also feature kimchi fries, pulled meat on pancakes, sesame & cheese pies, Dutch sausages, deep-fried apple fritters, Korean tacos filled with kalbi, bulgogi and spicy pork, and loaded baked potatoes filled with unusual ingredients such as guacamole, beans, salsa and ground beef.

Returning food faves include deep-fried butter, deep-fried Mars bars, deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and Krispy Kreme burgers.

Also, 17 food trucks will be stationed in front of the Allstream and Direct Energy Centres from August 24 through 26.

The Grid writes the lineup of Food Network personalities “expected to show up at the demo building include Anna Olson, Laura Calder, Michael Smith, Chuck Hughes, Roger Mooking, and David Rocco. Local chefs like Splendido’s Victor Barry, the Distillery Group’s Jason Rosso, and Petit Thuet’s Marc Thuet will also be there.”
