Wintour is the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue in America, and she has held at this powerful position in fashion journalism and editing since 1988. In this year’s New Year’s Honours list, she has been recognized for her services to the fashion industry. In 2008, she previously received an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II. Wintour became artistic director for Condé Nast, Vogue’s publisher, in 2013. From 1985 to 1987, Wintour also served as the Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue. She is the eldest daughter of the late Charles Wintour, who was the editor of the London Evening Standard newspaper in the 1970’s.
English fashion accessories designer Anya Hindmarch, who was awarded a Member of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 2009, has been invested to a Commander of the British Empire (CBE).
In addition, Victoria Beckham (best known as Posh Spice of the Spice Girls, as well as a fashion designer in her own right) has also been honored with an OBE for her services to fashion, an accolade she receives 13 years after her husband, football player David Beckham, also became an Officer of the British Empire.
