Fans of lifestyle, beauty and makeup are in for a treat. Makeup artist and colour chameleon Abby Jones created an easy “Technicolour Dreamcoat” hair colour from home. Digital Journal’s Makos Papadatos has the scoop.

“I have never been able to go as bold as I have wanted to,” she said. “Normal hair colour isn’t DIY friendly and doesn’t allow you to get creative with multiple colours. Yet here I am applying seven colours in one application. No Fade Fresh is a definite game-changer,” she added.

She offers step-by-step instructions on how to get her look by using “No Fade Fresh” colour depositing shampoos and conditioners. All one needs to start with is a comb and two clips. Make sure the hair is lightened to the lightest blonde before using the following shades. The hair can be dampened or dry for this kind of application.

First, begin with having your hair from ear to ear and neatly clip it away. We will get to that part later. Second, Using your comb make a straight section down from the root and clip the excess hair away. As we are going to be working our way in a 360 pattern.

Next, First shade: No Fade Fresh Blue Blast (Shampoo or Conditioner is optional) “For this, I used a bowl and brush, just to keep everything organised with using so many shades.” You want to start at the top root area and make your way in a square shape, taking fine sections and following to saturate the hair. Note: Both the Shampoo & Conditioner are extremely easy to work through the hair and makes the application easy and time-efficient,” she said.

After that, take the same sized sections and repeat the same process with the shades of your choice! “I wanted a variety of vivid and pastel, so I went with Light Pink, Hot Pink, Lavender, Bright Red, Purple Bordeaux in a money piece kind of Vibe,” she said.

“Finally, remember that large back section we clipped away? You are now going to completely saturate all over it with Raspberry Rush Shampoo or conditioner. Go vivid or go home, right!?!” she said. “Rinse after 10 to 15 minutes. Little tip: leaving the product on for 10 to 15 or 20 minutes gives the hair amazing moisture and Bond repair. This means your hair will be three times stronger and more nourished within this one application.”

“Once rinsed, you can dry and style as usual,” she concluded.
