As travel surges in 2025, consumer preferences shift toward smarter, more sustainable choices. The global luggage market is projected to grow by 7.1% annually, reaching $61.49 billion by the decade’s end, driven by demand for durable, lightweight, and eco-conscious designs. Amongst the brands addressing this demand is Duravo, whose innovative materials and thoughtful design have sparked interest among travelers prioritizing functionality and environmental impact.

Why travelers care about eco-friendly gear

Sustainability is a big deal for travelers in 2025, with research showing that more than half of global consumers are happy to spend extra on eco-friendly products. This is especially true for travel items, where companies focus on using better materials and reducing waste.

Duravo’s Flexshell material is a perfect example. Made from recyclable polypropylene fibers and eco-safe plastics, it is strong, light, and better for the planet. Flexshell was originally used in products including military gear and sports equipment, so it is built to last. “We wanted to create luggage that not only lasts but aligns with the values of today’s travelers,” says co-founder Matt Muhr.

Smart features for tech-savvy travelers

Today, people expect their luggage to do more than just carry clothes. Smart features are becoming a must-have, and by 2027, 20% of the luggage market is expected to include things like built-in GPS and USB chargers.

Duravo is staying ahead by offering features travelers love. Their bags include USB ports to charge phones on the go and hidden slots for tracking devices like Airtags or Tiles. Plus, their carry-ons can expand from 37 to 46 liters, making them perfect for longer trips. These features benefit digital nomads and remote workers, a group expected to grow by 15% annually.

Built tough for every journey

When choosing luggage, travelers want something that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Suitcases must be rigid and able to withstand bumpy roads, rough airport handling, and changing weather.

Duravo’s Flexshell material has undergone serious testing. The company has run extreme drop tests, rolled the luggage for miles, and pulled the handles thousands of times to ensure it’s tough enough for real-world use. Despite all that strength, the bags weigh just five pounds, much lighter than similar products. As co-founder Dan Cooper explains, “Flexshell combines strength and lightness in ways we have only seen in professional and military gear. Our testing confirms it is ready for the challenges of travel.”

Competing in a crowded market

Duravo competes with well-known brands like Tumi, Away, and Monos. However, it sets itself apart by offering eco-friendly materials and practical features at a reasonable price. Their International Expandable Carry-On is a great example, as it combines features found in high-end luggage with a price that appeals to more people.

Customer trust is also a key part of Duravo’s strategy. The brand has earned a five-star rating from over 1,000 customers who praise the products’ durability, convenience, and stylish design. Duravo has become a reliable option for environmentally conscious buyers by focusing on travelers’ needs and listening to feedback.

Travelers are changing how they pack

In 2025, travel is not only bouncing back to pre-pandemic levels but changing entirely. Travelers are more thoughtful about what they buy, focusing on helpful gear that reflects their values.

Duravo shows how a brand can meet those expectations by creating products that help reduce waste, make packing more manageable, and still look great. For modern travelers, choosing the right luggage means more than finding a bag to carry their things; it’s about choosing something that supports their goals for a better future.
