Actor Zac Efron has a major reason to be proud. He won a 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for his compelling series “Down to Earth” on Netflix. Digital Journal has the scoop.
He won the coveted Daytime Emmy for “Outstanding Daytime Program Host” for “Down to Earth with Zac Efron,” which he stars in, narrates, and executive produced. He triumphed over his fellow nominees Carly Ciarrocchi and Charlie Engelman for “Weird but True!”, Jeff Corwin (“Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin”), as well as Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Erica Hill, and Van Jones for “CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall”), and Brandon McMillan (“Lucky Dog with Brandon McMillan”).
“Wow,” he exclaimed. “I never expected this and I am so grateful,” he remarked. “A huge thank you to the Daytime Emmys and Netflix and our small but powerful crew for ‘Down to Earth,’ who made this show what it is.”
“Most of all, thank all of you for watching and enjoying ‘Down to Earth.’ This is for you,” he said, thanking his fans.
In this travel show, Efron journeys around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live. They are in search of new perspectives on some very old problems.
Both Efron and Olien travel the world in search of the secrets to good health, a long life, and a higher level of eco-consciousness — adventure, laughs and goat-milking ensue. It is a captivating series that truly takes Efron out of his comfort zone and places him in the far corners of the world, as he simultaneously takes his fans and viewers on one wild, interesting and educational ride.
The show was also nominated for the Daytime Emmy for “Outstanding Travel, Adventure, and Nature Program.” Efron was really thrilled about the two Daytime Emmy nominations that the show earned. “I am feeling so grateful for these Daytime Emmy nominations. So proud of this show and love the entire team behind ‘Down to Earth’,” he said effusively.
