A single Wishbone Ash’s concert in Warsaw started with “Blowin’ free” and was followed by “You See Red.”
Then there was a mix of new and old chunks of music that have collected huge number of fans everywhere in the world since the band was formed in 1969.
Andy Powell is the only musician who has been with his band through its entire history. Wishbone Ash was changing musicians but thanks to its Powell, it’s still recognizable as the one that delivers the music where the “real guitars have wings.”
Now the band performs with Andy Powell (g), Muddy Manninen (g), Bob Skeat (bass g) and Joe Crabtree (dr).
The group gives some 200 concert a year and their music keeps getting more and more fans from younger audience wherever they go. The original sound of two guitars, played by Andy Powell and Ted Turner was the inspiration to follow by other famous rock group like Iron Maiden or Thin Lizzy.
In 1972 the duo Powell-Turner was named by “Melody Maker” as the most inspiring guitar players since The Yardbirds with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.
After two hour concert, the session of CDs signing followed. Many fans of Wishbone Ash had a chance to get the musicians’ signatures on the real vinyl records they brought with them.
