Emmy-nominated actor and musician William Lipton (“General Hospital”) chatted about his 2023 Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Original Song” for “General Hospital.”
‘Darling Darling’
Lipton is nominated for his song “Darling Darling,” which was featured in the hit ABC daytime drama “General Hospital,” where he also plays the role of Cameron Webber.
“I am very excited about this Emmy nomination for ‘Original Song’,” Lipton admitted. “It was really sweet when I found out, I was with my friends outside of class and I yelled ‘yes!’ It was a good moment.”
The song “Darling Darling” is an original by Lipton. He invited the band The Runarounds, which includes Axel Ellis, Zende Murdock, Jesse Golliher, and Jeremy Yun, to perform it with him on the show. ”It is really cool to be among these really talented musicians, and that is inspiring for me to keep moving forward,” he said.
“It has been so special to have my teenage years documented in such a unique format such as ‘General Hospital.’ I can always look back in a ‘General Hospital’ episode and see how much I’ve grown. It’s cool,” Lipton said about being a part of the hit ABC soap opera “General Hospital”.
Lipton shared that his new music is “going great.” “We are working on releasing an album on the live versions of our songs,” he said.

In “General Hospital,” he noted that he would love to do more scenes with such Emmy award-winning actors as Maurice Benard and Maura West. “Maurice is the greatest, and Maura West is simply the queen. She is just awesome, and I am so sad that our storylines haven’t intersected in any way… Maybe one day some craziness will find Cameron where he can have an awesome story with Ava,” he said.
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Lipton said, “Moving Out is Hard.”
In his personal life, he shared that he just finished his sophomore year in college, and he is a “rising junior.”
Jackie Zeman
Lipton also paid a warm tribute to the late but great “General Hospital” actress Jackie Zeman, who passed away yesterday. “I just found out about the loss of Jackie Zeman last night, and my heart goes out to her family and close friends,” he said.
“I have such fond memories working with Jackie on ‘General Hospital.’ She was just the sweetest and kindest soul. What a star she was. Jackie was on the show for 45 years, this is such a sad loss. I know ‘General Hospital’ will do a great job to honor her amazing life,” Lipton said.
