The group, cheekily named The Pizza Underground, has performed at least one show at New York’s Sidewalk Cafe on Nov. 11, and released its first track on Dec. 2, according to media reports.
A medley includes songs such as “Pizza Day,” “Papa John Says,” and “Waiting for the Delivery Man,” riffing off classic Velvet Underground songs.
Cheesy lyrics include: “I’ve been out walking/ I don’t do too much toppings these days/ Cheese days/ Cheese days I seem to order cheese and don’t say please and then I walk away/ Don’t ask for pepperoni, not today.”
Culkin, 33, is billed as the group’s frontman, starring on vocals, the kazoo and percussion (and by percussion we mean the former actor banging on empty pizza boxes).
Pizza played a role in the Home Alone film, so it seems fitting the food would re-enter Culkin’s life once again.
Culkin hasn’t been acting since 2011, when he starred in a indie feature film The Wrong Ferrari, shot entirely on an iPhone camera.
