Video: ‘Mortal Kombat X’ launch trailer

Mortal Kombat X releases onto the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles come April 14th.

NetherRealm Studios and WB Games, respectively developer and publisher, posted a few new videos and one of them is the official launch trailer. The launch trailer speaks volumes as it plays to the tune of “Chop Suey” by the rock band System of a Down.

It is also reported that Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down directed the trailer.

The launch trailer gives tidbits of the game’s story mode, where you can obviously see plenty of action going down. Mortal Kombat fans can appreciate the amount of action, violence, and brutality in the official launch trailer.

This is a friendly reminder that protecting Earthrealm is not a cakewalk.

You can briefly see Tanya in the trailer, but she will be available later as part of the Kombat Pack DLC.

The story behind Mortal Kombat X takes place right after Mortal Kombat 9, where Earthrealm and Outworld suffer heavy losses against the new war against the Netherrealm. Quan Chi and Shinnok, the chief architect of everything, found the prime opportunity to attack when both realms are trying to rebuild after the destruction by Shao Kahn’s forces.

If you read the Mortal Kombat X: Blood Ties comic, then you know that the game’s mysterious antagonist is pulling the strings of everybody through the six Kamidogu.

The next trailer promotes Goro, who is available with all pre-orders of Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat fans should remember Prince Goro of the proud Shokan race. He remains a terrifying powerhouse with brute strength and four arms.

If you need to know more about the story, then you can check out the extended story trailer as it gives you 25 minutes worth of content. Shinnok and his Netherrealm forces have done an effective job of nearly bringing Earthrealm to its knees.

NetherRealm Studios also streamed the “Briggs Family” trailer a few days ago, too, which centers on Jackson “Jax” Briggs and Jacqueline “Jacqui” Briggs. Jacqui is Jax’s daughter and best friend to Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade.

Mortal Kombat X will also have a “companion app” which can be used to unlock stuff for the main game. The game plays as a combination of a fighting game and a card game.

Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will receive the game this summer.

The Kombat Pack, asides from Tanya, adds Tremor and two special guest characters: Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Predator from Predator.
