Video: ‘Metal Gear Solid V — The Phantom Pain’ E3 2015 trailer

The official E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has an ominous aura and a 60s style music track to compliment it. Metal Gear fans know that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain tells the story of how Snake, named Venom Snake in the game, becomes the antagonist known as the Big Boss.

A bloody-faced Snake walks down a dimly lit corridor at the trailer’s start.

If you pay attention to the upper left side of the screen, you’ll notice the piece of shrapnel lodged in Snake’s skull. The shrapnel gets larger a few seconds later and assumes the form of a devil’s horn, where it alludes that Snake inevitably makes a deal with the Devil.

In the Metal Gear universe, Big Boss is the Devil incarnate.

The theme of language plays a huge role and the trailer explains that it is the identity of a person, a tribe, and a country. It does make plenty of sense because it is crucial to a person’s heritage as many examples include French, Gaelic, Italian, Farsi, Arabic, Spanish, Creole, Chinese, and more.

The United States is a huge example because the national language is English, but has no official language on a federal level.

It is a melting pot of cultures, but everyone living in the U.S. is expected to speak English.

The “Les Enfants Terrible” project is revealed at the end, where the clones of Big Boss are introduced.

Solid Snake never grew up around Big Boss, where it’s obvious that one grows up to become Liquid Snake and the other grows up to become Solidus Snake.

The short trailer introduces the Day 1-Edition that contains exclusive goodies available at the beginning of the game.

A 40-minute demonstration was also unveiled at E3, where everything will be available to players without resorting to micro-transactions.

Konami has added micro-transactions to give players the ease of speed because Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will take a long time to complete. You have to remember that this title is an open-world title, which plays differently from previous titles.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases to current and last-generation consoles on September 1.

The PC version comes out on September 15.

Hideo Kojima, the man behind MGS, says that this could likely be the final title in that series. He said Metal Gear Solid leaves open the possibility for a sequel to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
