Marvel Entertainment posted the second trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil, which is set to stream exclusively on Netflix on April 10th, part of five planned live-action series that are connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This new trailer is darker and grittier compared to the previous trailer.
The focus of this trailer is Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, a notable villain of Marvel Comics, who is portrayed by veteran actor Vincent D’onfrio (Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Jurassic World, Run All Night, Impostor, Happy Accidents, Steal This Movie, Men In Black: The Series, The New Boys, and more).
Kingpin narrates the trailer and talks about how he wants to make the city a better place, but his ideology conflicts with the ideology of Matthew Murdock, aka Daredevil. It ultimately shows that the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood is ultimately caught in-between the battle between Daredevil and Kingpin, which is going to be incredibly brutal.
Marvel’s Daredevil is going to be violent and dark compared to rest of the MCU and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There is a reference to the MCU near the end when one of the villains makes a note of Iron-Man’s suit and Thor’s hammer.
When Marvel’s Daredevil streams on Netflix, which is on April 10th, all 13 episodes will be available from the start.
Daredevil will be played by British actor Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire, Hello Carter, and The Theory of Everything). Other cast members include Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.
This series will help set up Marvel’s The Defenders, the last of the five series, where Cox will share the screen with Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter. Ritter will star as the titular Jessica Jones in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones and Colter will star as the titular Luke Cage in Marvel’s Luke Cage.
The five series deal with the fallout of the attack on NYC in The Avengers.
