Final Fantasy fans should remember that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the enhanced version of Final Fantasy Type-0, is hitting North America and Europe in March.
Square Enix streamed yet a new trailer for the game and it is in the form of one of those “Orience News Specials.” This trailer once again follows Rubrum’s Suzaku Magical Academy, which houses the members of the elite Class Zero.
This trailer centers on the most important aspect of game play, which is combat.
You will play in parties up to three members and you can perform two different types of attacks: break and kill.
The former is a well-placed strike that allows you inflict heavy damage on a single enemy and the latter is a one-hit kill. Break works on very strong enemies and kill can work on weaker enemies.
You have 14 characters to choose from, which lets you choose from the remainder when one of your party members is knocked out, leaving you no choice but to eventually play as all of them. A knocked out party member remains out for the rest of the mission, but you can use that character again when another mission comes up.
Each character will have their individual abilities to use in combat.
Defeated enemies leave behind “Phantoma,” which is used to enhanced your magic abilities. Phantoma will come in different colors, which will be associated with an element. Blue Phantoma, for example, would be associated with ice.
Magic utilizes the elements of ice, fire, and lightning.
Party members can utilize a “Triad Attack” that combines magic together for one single attack.
Summon spells are also present that can be used when a party member sacrifices oneself during the mission. The summons are known as Eidolons like they were named in Final Fantasy IX.
Pre-orders of the game will receive the playable Final Fantasy XV demo “Episode Duscae” as long as supplies last.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD hits North America on March 17th and Europe on March 20th for current-generation consoles.
