Vancouver’s Gam Gallery exhibition examines Canadian habitat (Includes interview and first-hand account)

When calling for submissions, the gallery posted an ad to a popular in Vancouver Craigslist.com. The gallery’s upcoming exhibition is called The Gam Presents: What We do to Thee and Thee Does Back to We (Our Vast Canadian Habitat).

The gallery describes the exhibit: “The Earth’s surface is constantly changing. The landscape goes through slow geological transformations due to shifts in the tectonic plates and is also affected by changes in the sun and climate. The more noticeable and impactful changes are caused by the inhabitants of these landscapes. As living creatures affect the environment they live in, so too do the geographical conditions of a region define its inhabitants. It is because of the vast varieties of terrain around the globe that our planet is home to such diverse cultures and creatures. This is due in part to adaptation, which includes finding strategies to support needs for shelter, clothing and food. The need for civilizations to adapt to our surroundings shapes the culture, and in turn, shapes the land. This is true, to some degree, for all creatures that inhabit the earth.”
