U2 fan site @U2 quoted a recent Hot Press magazine interview Clayton gave in which he said: “We very much want to have a record out by the end of the year, September, October, November; that kind of time.”
Band members were recently spotted May 31 at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, where they are working with producer and musician Danger Mouse.
Since finishing up their 2009-2011 world tour, the band has been at work creating their new recording. According to Rolling Stone, the band initially meant to release Songs of Ascent, a series of songs from the No Line on the Horizon sessions. However, the band decided to scrap those songs and instead focused on new material.
The rumour mill also has it that Coldplay front man Chris Martin might also be involved with the recording, as he was seen entering Electric Lady Studios during U2’s session. However, says NME, Martin denied he was with the band.
Later that day, U2 recorded an acoustic version of “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” and Artist Jr, who set up the project, tweeted a picture of U2 with Chris Martin clearly seen in the background.
