Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry dead at 50 in helicopter crash

On September 8, Gentry tragically lost his life in a helicopter accident that took place around 1 p.m. in Medford, New Jersey, where the group was going play that night at Flying W Airport & Resort. The news was confirmed via a posted statement on the band’s official website. Their homepage indicated that the details of the crash are unknown, and that his family acknowledges all of the warm thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy during this difficult time.

Doug Gray, from the iconic southern rock group The Marshall Tucker Band, was among countless musicians that have paid homage to the late country star. Gray stated that he was at a loss for words. “We’ve had many great times on the road with Montgomery Gentry over the years. Troy was a talent. He will be sorely missed. Up above, he’ll be carrying on the music he always loved,” Gray said.

Two years ago, Eddie Montgomery (also from the country duo Montgomery Gentry), had lost his son, Hunter, in a tragic accident at the age of 19.
