This parrot is actually a woman posing in bodypaint

It may seem like a fascinating optical illusion but it’s simply another piece of art by Stoetter, 35, who was crowned World Body Painting Champion in 2012.

The model’s legs resemble the bird’s wing and tail feathers; her arm is wrapped around her neck and forms the parrot’s head and beak. The animal’s green eye is painted squarely on the model’s forehead.

He explained to reporters: “Getting the scene set up took about five hours, then it took about another four hours to paint the model and an hour to get her position right.”

When he shows friends a photo of the model, he often hears, “Nice photo of a parrot, where did you photograph it?”

Last year, Stoetter won attention for his tropical tree frog piece, where several bodypainted models closely resembled the reptile.
