On Tuesday, April 30th, the 2024 Tony nominations were officially announced. These awards recognize achievement in Broadway productions during the 2023 to 2024 season.
The Tony Awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
The 2024 ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 16 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”) will return as host for the third year in a row.
The shows “Hell’s Kitchen” (featuring the music and lyrics of Alicia Keys) and “Stereophonic” earned the most nominations this year, with 13 nods each. “The Outsiders” musical was the second-most nominated show, garnering 12 nominations.
“The Outsiders” is up for “Best Musical,” “Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical” for Brody Grant, “Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical” for both Sky Lakota-Lynch and Joshua Boone, and “Best Direction of a Musical” for Danya Taymor.
“The Outsiders” are also up for “Best Book of a Musical” (Justin Levine and Adam Rapp), “Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre” for Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine, “Best Lighting Design of a Musical,” “Best Sound Design of a Musical,” “Best Choreography,” “Best Scenic Design of a Musical,” and “Best Orchestrations.”
