Michael Gracey served as director, with the story by Jenny Bicks, who co-wrote the screenplay with Bill Condon. Laurence Mark, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping served as producers of The Greatest Showman. Particularly impressive about this film is that it features the Academy Award-winning lyricists of La La Land.
The film was inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum; moreover, The Greatest Showman is an original musical, which celebrates the birth of show business and it tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a global sensation.
After a skin cancer scare (which was successfully removed), Hugh Jackman was told by his physician that he would not be able to sing. He was able to defy his doctor’s orders, and he triumphed in this role.
Aside from Hugh Jackman, the all-star cast of actors consists of Zac Efron as Phillip Carlyle, Michelle Williams (who portrays
Charity Barnum), Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind, as well as Zendaya, who plays Anne Wheeler.
Speaking of Jackman, he earned a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy” for this role, and the film is up for the Golden Globe for “Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.”
