“The God Committee,” starring Kelsey Grammer, is an intense drama that was released on July 2 via Vertical Entertainment. Digital Journal has the scoop.
The movie was eloquently directed and written by showrunner Austin Stark. Kelsey Grammer delivers a tour-de-force performance as Dr. Andre Boxer, where he is joined by Julia Stiles, who plays Dr. Jordan Taylor, as they take on the role of cardiac surgeons.
Colman Domingo is poignant in the role of Father Dunbar, a lawyer who turned into a priest. Dan Hedaya is bold and controlled as Emmett Granger.
Janeane Garofalo and Peter Kim (“After Forever”) also star in this film as Dr. Valerie Gilroy and Dr. Lau respectively.
“The God Committee” deals with an organ transplant committee that has one hour to decide which of three patients will receive a life-saving heart. Seven years later, the committee members struggle with the consequences of that fateful decision. The audience is in for quite a bumpy ride.
Without giving too much away, “The God Committee” is a moving film that should be experienced by all.
The Verdict
Overall, “The God Committee” is compelling from start to finish. Kelsey Grammer is superb as Dr. Boxer, while Julia Stiles soars as Dr. Taylor.
Compliments to Austin Stark for writing and directing such a film. It does a solid job showcasing the impact that the “life-changing heart” will have on all of the characters involved. It will hit you like a shot in the heart. “The God Committee” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
