The Bellamy Brothers talk 40th anniversary country album (Includes interview)

Regarding their 40th anniversary collection, David said, “We wanted to try to make it a greatest hits CD, and a little more interesting by putting 20 new songs.”

When asked about his personal favorite song on there, he listed “Dyin’ Breed” and “Time Rocks On.” “We are pretty happy with all of them,” he said.

The duo has been credited by a well-known media outlet as the “fathers of bro-country,” due to their song “Country Rap,” and David noted that this was “kind of funny” to them. “We did ‘Country Rap’ originally to make fun of rap, so I’m not sure we deserve to be called the fathers of bro-country, but it is kind of humorous,” he said.

Throughout their international tour, The Bellamy Brothers played India and Sri Lanka. “We have been invited there for many years, and it never worked out, so it has been a long time coming. We did the trip and it was one of the greatest trips that we had ever taken. The audiences were incredible, and we really want to go back,” he said.

Next year, David revealed that the duo is working on a book on their career, life and family. “We hope to have that out in the spring,” he said. “We appreciate all of the fans’ support over the years.”
