Ted King has a major reason to celebrate. He won the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series” for his acting work in “The Bold and The Beautiful.”
King won for his portrayal of Jack Finnegan in a pivotal storyline in the CBS daytime drama “The Bold and The Beautiful” where he comes clean about his son Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) true paternity.
This Emmy Award was presented on June 18 at the 49th Daytime Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmy Awards in the Pasadena Convention Center.
King triumphed over fellow nominees Naomi Matsuda (who played his on-screen wife Dr. Li Finnegan on “The Bold and The Beautiful”), as well as Ptosha Storey (“The Young and The Restless”), Michael Lowry (“Days of Our Lives”), and Robert Gossett (“General Hospital”).
In his eloquent acceptance speech, King thanked NATAS (the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) and he expressed that he is very proud to have been a part of that category. “I just wanted to say I doubted I would win this for years, it kept me from participating,” he said.
“I teach my kids not to fail and yet I was afraid to participate,” he said, fighting back tears. “Inevitably, as you all know, it’s the failures that make us better creatives.”
He complimented his “amazing scene partner Naomi Matsuda” for being “fantastic.” He also thanked Eva Basler, the Vice President of Communications at ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’ for putting his Emmy reel together and demanding that he submit it because he was “too chicken” to do so.
Finally, King extended his “ultimate gratitude” to his wife, Maya, whom he described as “amazing, gorgeous, funny, and strong,” as well as his “gorgeous children” Ava and Vivienne. “Award or no award you validate my life every single day,” he concluded, effusively.
