Actor Tanner Novlan (“The Bold and The Beautiful”) chatted about his latest holiday movies.

He is known for playing Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan in the hit CBS daytime drama “The Bold and The Beautiful.”

New Hallmark film

Novlan stars in the new film “Christmas Class Reunion” opposite Aimee Teegarden. This new original movie premieres on Saturday, December 10 on the Hallmark Channel.

“Shooting this film was awesome,” he admitted. “Working with Hallmark was a real pleasure. It’s also a Christmas movie and I wanted to do a Hallmark Christmas movie for a long time. This is something really sweet that I can watch with my family, especially since Christmas is big around my house. It was really fun to do and I am really excited about it.”

In 2007, Brookswood High’s senior class earned themselves the moniker of the “cursed class” after a series of unlucky events. Now 15 years later, they have returned home for their high school reunion.

Elle (Aimee Teegarden) is a former class president, former valedictorian, and “most likely to succeed” who spearheads the reunion. Unfortunately, as is tradition, despite perfectly planning the reunion things fall apart, leaving Elle to team up with Devin (Tanner Novlan), the former class vice-president and troublemaker. “Devin is a go-for-it guy, he has a serious side and a playful side, and his lesson in this film is trying to balance both of those qualities,” Novlan said.

While navigating this crossroads, Elle tries to reconnect with her high school
crush Kam (Marshall Williams), who is also career-obsessed.

Over the course of their time reuniting, the classmates challenge each other to remember who they were, who they are, and who they want to be.

As the clock ticks down to their grand Christmas Eve reunion, this “cursed class” is
reminded that there’s nothing quite so wonderful as an old friend…or a new love.

“This movie touches on a lot of great themes,” he said. “The expectations of who you once were and who you are you are now is one of those common themes because everyone has dreams and ambitions.”

“Christmas Class Reunion” is from Lighthouse Pictures Inc. Jon Rosenbaum directed the movie from a script by Erin Rodman.

Novlan had great words about working with his leading lady, Aimee Teegarden. “Aimee is amazing, giving, and so talented. We hit it off really well and I think we have good chemistry in it,” he said.

New Great American Family film

Novlan also starred opposite Colton Little and Breanne Hill in “Christmas Sweethearts,” which premiered on Great American Family. It was directed by Jake Helgren. “We filmed that one before the pandemic, so it was cool to have a rebirth with Great American Family with that movie. It was a fun one too,” he said.

“Jake, the director. was awesome to work with. We shot that in a beautiful place in Idyllwild, California, up in the mountains. The cast and I got really close in that movie,” Novlan said.

“I like working with Colton Little, he is actually in the daytime world (on “Days of Our Lives”) as well, which is really cool. We actually bumped together while filming it, he was a good roommate,” he said. “Colton would make the coffee every morning, we had a good time. Being from Canada, I was the one that could get the fire going.”

The synopsis of that movie is as follows: When a woman returns home to find her ex in a relationship, she enlists her best friend to act as her fake boyfriend.

‘Roswell, New Mexico’

He described his filming experience in “Roswell, New Mexico” as one of his all-time favorites since it allowed him to film in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “Santa Fe is just a beautiful place and I really liked the character that Carina MacKenzie created for me, that was amazing. The cast was great too,” he said.

Puckheads

He also noted that “Puckheads” was a cool experience for him, which also features Colin Egglesfield, Don Most, and Kevin Sizemore. “We shot the pilot in Chicago. I still play hockey recreationally,” he said. “Colin was great, he played the coach in it.”

Thankful for his family this holiday season

This holiday season, Novlan expressed that he is most thankful for his family. “I am really taking in my family right now,” he said.

“This will be our son’s first Christmas, he came a little bit early as a surprise, so I will get to experience that this year through him. I am really thankful to have him healthy and active, and it is great to see him with his big sister now. The kids are starting to interact with each other, which is fun to see,” he elaborated.
