The iconic side scrolling SNES game follows the plot of A New Hope as players take on the role of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca as they try to save Princess Leia. Some minor changes were made to the story, but the game stays true to the source’s material for the most part.
This re-release will reintroduced to a new audience with improved graphics along with several new features. The most notable is having the ability to save the game along with a trophy system.
The announcement has been welcomed by fans and gamers who either have childhood memories playing the game or are aware of its legacy. Many also hope that there are plans to re-release the sequels sometime in the future.
No official announcements have been made if the game will be released for the Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U or PC. It’s also not confirmed if Super The Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi will also be re-released.
The original Super Star Wars was released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo and it was praised for being one of the best Star Wars games at the time. Today its been hailed as one of the best side-scrolling games.
