Frontman Trevor Hedges of the Arizona-based indie punk band Sundressed chatted about their new single “Bad Drugs,” which features City Mouth, and the digital age.
‘Bad Drugs’ single
On the concept for “Bad Drugs,” he said, “So the idea for the song came from my personal experience of going back to the doctor and getting on medication for anxiety and depression. I had some really intense side effects on one and almost lost hope, but the medication I’m currently on has definitely changed my life.”
“I think there’s a lot of stigmas about getting on medication so I wanted to share my personal experience with this tough topic,” he added.
Music inspirations
When asked about his music and songwriting inspirations, he shared, “Definitely personal experience, it’s hard for me to write about things I don’t know. I am constantly inspired by my friends and musicians around me to be creative and tap into that source.”
Regarding the band’s future plans, he said, “We are putting out the best record of our career and touring forever.”
The digital age
On being a band in the digital age, Hedges said, “It is exhausting but fun! I have a blast making silly Internet videos. It has been wild to have stayed a band through so many different social media climates.”
Dream collaboration choices
He listed Phoebe Bridgers and Nothing, Nowhere as his dream collaboration choices in music.
Success
On his definition of the word success, he said, “Getting to do what I love without it ruining my life.”

“Please blast this song in the car and scream the words. It’s about freedom from fear. Celebrate your weirdness and have fun, you freaks,” he exclaimed.
