Steven Giannopoulos chatted about starring in the new reality series “Got to Get Out” on Hulu.
Synopsis of ‘Got to Get Out’
The synopsis is: 20 people under one roof; $1 million in prizes up for grabs. To win it, they’ve “Got to Get Out”… but that’s much easier said than done.
Lies and lunacy collide in this exhilarating competition series where an outrageous mix of reality icons and crafty gamers must conspire to get out. In this house, time is money. As the clock ticks, the prize money increases.
The longer they stay, the greater their chance to earn more. They can split the money equally in the end or try to make their escape at any point in time with the accumulated money all for themselves, leaving others to start again at $0.
From wild strategies and temptations to shifting alliances and unbelievable escape attempts, the players will try any and every way to make it out of the gate and win the prize.
On being a part of the new reality series “Got to Get Out,” he exclaimed, “It was fun! I did ‘Big Brother Canada,’ but compared to this, ‘Got to Get Out’ is so much funner. It was a fun game and a nice experience.”
“We were locked in a mansion,” Giannopoulos said. “There was $1 million on the line. There are no clocks… The time is the money clock, so it just keeps going up until it hits that $1 million.”
“The whole point of the game is trying to escape; you get clues, and you usually try to teach up with people and you try to run out of the house. There were so many big names on that show,” Giannopoulos added.
Giannopoulos on Val Chermansky
He spoke about his friendship with Val Chermansky. “From day one, Val and I got super-close. We instantly connected,” he said. “The people here are so different than what I’ve known before, so that was super fun.”
Simu Liu as the host
On having Simu Liu as the host, he said, “We didn’t know he was going to be our host before the show’s release. We found that out later on. When we were at the house, we never saw him there.”
Lessons learned from this reality series
“This reality show taught me a lot,” Giannopoulos admitted. “It deals with a bunch of challenges, where people are lying and scheming. You need to lie too; this way, you can try to figure out if other people are lying.”
“You learn a lot about yourself while playing this game because you are always thinking with your head and you are analyzing all of these different scenarios,” he noted.
“All the other contestants made this show fun and exciting. Honestly, if they ever call me to go back on this show, I would do so in a heartbeat,” he added.
Giannopoulos on being a part of the 2024 and 2025 Australian Firefighters Calendars
Giannopoulos recalled being a part of the 2024 and 2025 Australian Firefighters Calendars, which raise money for charitable and philanthropic causes.
“The 2025 Australian calendar shoot was great! I love going to Australia; it is so nice down there. Also, the fact that is helps so many charities is so great,” he expressed.
“I have been a firefighter for 10 years now,” he revealed. “I have learned so much, and I loved it ever since I was a kid; it has been such a fun career but I think I am on my next step. I need to focus on myself more and do my own things.”
Visiting Greece in the summer
Giannopoulos, who has Greek-Canadian roots, hopes to visit Greece in the summer of 2025. “It is such a different lifestyle in Greece; it is so much more relaxed. I love Greece so much,” he exclaimed.
Greek Easter is coming up on Sunday, April 20th, but this time around, Giannopoulos won’t be able to celebrate with his family because he is in Costa Rica, at the moment.
Focus more on health, wellness, and fitness content
From a content creation standpoint, Giannopoulos wants to get more into health, wellness, and fitness content.
“I am going through a little transition right now, especially trying to go from my firefighting content to health and wellness,” he said.
Giannopoulos on Success
Regarding his definition of success, Giannopoulos said, “Success is not of monetary value or a physical possession value. Success starts from the inside.”
“When you are truly happy, you’ve found your happy place and you are living your best life without anything stopping you, and you are healthy and loved ones are still there, then that’s true success,” he acknowledged.
Giannopoulos on his fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, he said, “A lot of them have supported me from the first day that I appeared on screen. It is cool to see the fans that are still supporting me along the way and seeing the journey that I am going through.”
“Now, the fans can keep in touch with me on social media. You need to thank the fans because without the fans, you are not the person they see on TV,” Giannopoulos noted.
“I want to thank the fans for being there for me for so long and for supporting me. I finally made it back on TV, so hopefully, I can keep this ball rolling, Giannopoulos concluded.
