In addition to the unit sales, according to the Edmonton Journal, Sony also boasted sells of 10 million games.
Meanwhile, the company finally expanded on the streaming service it hinted at before the PS4 debuted last November. Called PlayStation Now, the service will allow for streaming of previous-generation PlayStation games on smartphones, tablets and certain smart TVs, according to the Inquirer.
“The service, in the long-run. will provide Playstation owners with games they love from previous consoles from previous generations,” Andrew House, CEO of Sony Entertainment said at the conference. “It will also introduce the world of Playstation to non-console owners, via Sony smartphone and tablet devices. We are paving the way for gamers to play wherever, whenever.”
Mashable reports that gamers can choose to rent individual titles or pay a subscription fee for multiple games, much like Netflix. Prices are unclear at this moment.
Title availability also isn’t clear, though Sony did tout The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls as two examples.
The service will undergo a closed beta this month, and will officially premiere this summer.
