Sinclair Daniel chatted about starring in “The Copenhagen Test” on Peacock and working with lead actor and executive producer Simu Liu.

The synopsis is: This espionage thriller series follows first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Simu Liu) who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears.

Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who is responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.

She plays the role of Parker, who is an intelligence analyst at the Orphanage.

On being a part of “The Copenhagen Test,” she remarked, “It has been great! We premiered a little over 2.5 weeks ago. It has been super exciting to see everybody’s reactions, talking to all my friends and family, and everyone is having a great time. So, I’m over the moon.”

Playing Parker in ‘The Copenhagen Test’

She is drawn to playing Parker for several reasons. “I think my favorite thing about Parker is that she is not really afraid to be vulnerable, even at work,” she said.

“I don’t know if she is consciously thinking about that all the time, but it comes up naturally whether she wants to or not, and I appreciate that,” she added.

Working with Simu Liu

On working with Simu Liu, she stated, “It was awesome! Simu was our leading man, and then, he was one of our executive producers, which was really cool because he was having a ball doing it and he took such good care of all of us, as actors and as people.”

“Simu was always checking in on everybody, and he does such a great acting job in this show, which he helped create. As a result, I think he deserves all the flowers for that,” she added.

Working with Kathleen Chalfant

On working with veteran actress Kathleen Chalfant, she shared, “It was amazing! She was fantastic in this show. It was nice getting to see her again. I went to see a screening of her film ‘Familiar Touch,’ and she did a talk back for that. She can do it all… stage, film, and TV. She is so great. Most importantly, she is such a lovely person.”

Lessons learned from ‘The Copenhagen Test’ screenplay

On the lessons learned from “The Copenhagen Test” screenplay, she reflected, “Oh, I think it taught me to have a healthy dose of suspicion about where your orders are coming from.”

“Do the best you can with what you’ve got, but trust your instincts,” she added.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, now with streaming, technology and social media being so prevalent, she said, “It’s crazy! It’s wild. I grew up with it and I’m still surprised by it every single day by what it can do and the vastness of it and the immediacy.”

“Sometimes, it’s really great,” she admitted. “It’s awesome that I can see that people in Indonesia are loving the show. Sometimes it’s kind of crazy for the reasons why it’s kind of crazy.”

“I also think the show kind of touches on that a little bit in its own way,” she said. “Technology is running away with us a little bit,” she added.

Being a part of the Peacock family

On being a part of the Peacock family, she exclaimed, “It feels great! It feels good to be doing this on a streamer that is supporting it and pushing it, where people keep sending me photos of the ads and the trailers that they’re seeing.”

“I see them on the subway, which is great,” she noted. “So I’m just, I’m happy that the streamer is supporting this project that we all really care about.”

Future plans

When asked about her future plans, she shared, “Whatever the future holds, I am not picky or prescriptive. I am just trying to keep an open mind and heart on all types of things.”

“Hopefully, there will be more work, more travel, and more martinis in cute bars in different cities around the world. That’s always on the to-do list,” she added.

Advice for young and aspiring actors

For young and emerging actors, she said, “It’s kind of the same thing about Parker. Keep a healthy dose of skepticism about whatever you think the right way to do something is.”

“If we’ve learned anything in the past couple of years, it is that you can carve out so many different career paths with just your phone and willpower,” she noted.

“So, get creative and don’t get discouraged because the traditional way isn’t working for you,” she added.

Stage of her life

On the title of the current chapter of her life, she revealed, “Energized Optimism.”

Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “Success means feeling proud of the things that I am a part of.”

Superpower of choice

Her superpower of choice would be “teleportation.” “This way, I would save a lot of money on flights,” she admitted.

Message for her fans

For her fans and supporters, Sinclair expressed, “Wow! Thank you guys. I’m so happy that you’re here with so few credits to my name, and I hope that we get to grow together for a very long time and I appreciate you all.”

“I want people to have fun watching this show,” she said. “This is a show where if you get really bogged down in the logistics of it, you might start to spiral and that’s fine. At the end of the day, I want people to have fun and really get into the show, and the questions that it poses.”

Sinclair concluded, “I just hope that people are watching ‘The Copenhagen Test,’ and I hope they watch it all the way till the end, because there’s a really great surprise.”
