Actress Shaquita Smith talks about “Wicked City” and being a part of the digital age.

‘Wicked City’

“My experience on ‘Wicked City’ was such a beautiful experience,” she said. “I enjoyed every moment working on this television show. The entire cast and crew became family to me and it was hard to let them go on the last day of set. I got an opportunity to learn different tools that each character brought to the set. I really enjoyed working with special effect and chanting different spells. Being a witch was so fun for me.”

“What I loved most about my character was that she was unapologetically herself. I enjoyed playing this quirky, out of the box human being that ultimately wants to be accepted,” she added.

Motivations

On her daily inspirations as an actress, Smith said, “What inspires me is an actress is the ability to impact so many people watching me. The opportunity to change people lives with my performance is such a gift to me.”

For young and aspiring actors, she said, “Be the best version of yourself, there isn’t another you on this planet. That future movie or TV show need your uniqueness.  My advice would just figure out what makes you unique and different… allow that person to branch out.”

Dream acting partners

On her dream acting partners, she said, “My dream acting partner would be Johnny Depp, I think Johnny Depp is a phenomenal actress who transform into beautiful characters on screen. I love the fact that he can change his entire being to be a character. This is something that i strive to be daily or be the epitome of each day.”

The digital age

Smith opened up about being an actress in the digital age now with streaming and technology being so prevalent. “I believe that our world is changing into the digital age dramatically. This gives actors more opportunities than they would have had years ago,” she said.

On her definition of the word success, Smith said, “Success means being able to do what you love without limitations. Success also means every accomplishment that you’ve done and worked through trials and tribulations.”

Smith concluded about “Wicked City,” “It is a story about sisterhood. No matter where you come from and what you enjoy, you can always find friends that becomes family.”
