Sennheiser introduces its new flagship gaming headset

For serious gamers an efficient and effective headset is crucial (a headset combines a headphone with a microphone.) One of the leading companies is Sennheiser and this week the company launched the PC 373D. This is being marketed as the new reference headset for competitive PC gamers.

Key features include the delivery of an immersive 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound (which is due to what the company calls “unique transducer technology,” according to the consumer site Trusted Reviews); this comes together with what are said to be “crystal clear” gaming communications, which stem from a fitted noise-cancelling microphone. The headset comes with a Surround Dongle and software. The Dongle is to allow for convenient switching between sound modes. With this one button triggers a switch between stereo and surround sound as needed. With this, Troels Rasmussen, Product Manager Gaming, Sennheiser Communications A/S indicated in an interview with the website Funky Kit: “The all-new software incorporated into the headset’s Surround Dongle immediately allows the gamer to both customize the sound to his needs and quickly switch between stereo and surround sound.”

With the software, this includes a graphic equalizer that has several optimized modes for immersive or competitive gaming. In addition, there is an eSports mode and various music tracks for post-gaming down-time.

In its review Techradar notes how comfortable the headset is. The device has large ear cups cushioned with “plush velvet.” To add to this, The Verge notes the aluminum structure “will help keep your ears cool.”

Sennheiser is a private German audio company that specializes in the design and production of a wide range of electronics products, ranging from microphones, headphones, telephony accessories to avionics headsets.

The PC 373D headset costs £210 ($275).
