Sal Valentinetti talks Long Island shows, America’s Got Talent (Includes interview)

In the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent, Valentinetti finished in fifth place, and he was Heidi Klum’s golden buzzer for his stellar audition performance of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” “That was a life-changing moment,” he recalled.

Most recently, on August 3, Valentinetti performed at The Paramount. “It was great. Sold-out crowd, over 1,000 people, and a great response from everybody. It just went fantastic,” he said. “I am so excited to be back on Long Island at the end of the month. It is good to be back home. It’s good to be with my people. I’m comfortable with them. It’s great.”

He had nothing but the kindest remarks about comedian Mike Marino, who opened for him. “Mike is on a lot of my shows,” he said. “Mike’s a great guy, and he should run for president since we need an Italian president.”

Valentinetti also participated in the Brian Moore benefit show at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall this past March, which paid homage to the late detective, and raised funds for his memorial fund. “I felt a very personal connection to Brian because he was from my town,” he said. “I was able to do that for Brian and his family and they were just so grateful.”

This season on America’s Got Talent, Valentinetti shared that he is rooting for fellow Long Islander Christian Guardino, who is 16 years old. He earned a golden buzzer from Howie Mandel. “What a kid! I’m going out to Los Angeles to support him,” he said. “I am so proud and so happy for him. It’s insane. What a good kid! Everybody should vote for this kid. He is the pride of Long Island. I can see it now.”

On August 27, Valentinetti will be playing at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Long Island. “It’s a nice, intimate venue. My birthday is the night before, so I will be able to celebrate with a nice, fun show for everybody,” he said.

“The Voice” will be a part of the Italia Vera festival, which will be coming to the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale on September 9. For more information on the Italia Vera festival, visit its website.
