Synopsis of Tyler Perry’s ‘Duplicity’
The synopsis is: High-powered attorney Marley (Kat Graham) faces her most personal case yet when she is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the shooting of her best friend Fela’s (Meagan Tandy) husband (Joshua Adeyeye).
With the help of her boyfriend (Tyler Lepley) – a former cop turned private investigator – Marley’s search for what really happened leads her down a treacherous maze of deception and betrayal. Lee plays Kevin, while Lepley plays Tony.
Experience making Tyler Perry’s ‘Duplicity’
On their experience doing “Duplicity,” they both concurred, “It was great. The experience was awesome.”
“There is more to these characters than what meets the eye,” Lepley said. “For me, in the first two acts, Tony is choosing to go after his objective passively, and he is letting Marley take the reins.”
“When options 1 through 10 don’t work in the third act, he is choosing more of a direct approach, without giving anything away,” Lepley explained. “That is definitely one of the most intriguing aspects of my character.”
Working with Tyler Perry
On working with Tyler Perry, Lee said, “It was great! Tyler knows what he wants, and he knows how to get it. For me, I enjoyed it; it didn’t take long. His process is a little bit different than the traditional way of doing it.”
“That just means that his actors need to come really prepared, know their lines, and be ready to rock and roll because he is going to be ready,” Lee said.
Working with Kat Graham and Meagan Tandy
The gentlemen opened up about working with Kat Graham and Meagan Tandy as their leading ladies.
“We both had a lot of scenes with Kat and Meagan,” Lepley admitted. “I think this was both of their first times working with Tyler Perry, but being on set with them, you wouldn’t have even noticed.”
“Tyler definitely runs a tight ship and he works very efficiently. They didn’t miss a beat,” Lepley added.
RonReaco Lee on Nick Barrotta
RonReaco Lee had great words about fellow actor Nick Barrotta. “Nicky B is a cool cat right there,” Lee admitted. “I didn’t have enough scenes with him, but Nick is a good dude. He also has a beautiful little girl.”
Lessons learned from the ‘Duplicity’ screenplay
On the lessons learned from this screenplay, Lepley reflected, “This topic is something that we deal with on a regular basis, especially living in this community. One thing I definitely took away from it was the importance of keeping this in the forefront of the conversation.”
“This is one of those stories that is important enough to our community, and it’s important to shed some light on that,” Lepley concluded.
