On the song selection process for New Addictions, Rocky said, “As a writer and producer, there are so many songs that are sitting on a hard-drive right now, where some are closer to being finished than others and some just have a random drum loop. With these songs, these were the first five to be finished, and they were the best five that we thought we had at the time.”
Regarding the song “If,” he said, “That was actually the last song we finished for New Addictions. That was the first song that was written, produced and engineered entirely by myself and the band. That was a cool milestone for us. The song is very groovy and it feels like summer.”
Their song’s music video is witty and a great deal of fun. “That was pretty epic, especially when Ross is shaving,” he said, with a laugh.
His personal favorite song on the EP at the moment is “Red Velvet.” “I always like something that holds a deep groove, and I feel that ‘Red Velvet’ does that,” he said.
On their plans for the future, he said, “The band and I are going to be touring a lot for the rest of the year. We are going to South America, Mexico, Europe and hopefully back to Japan. We leave is about a week and a half actually. There will be more writing and more music. We will try and release plenty of more music before the year is up. Ross has a couple of movies coming up. I spend all my time writing music.”
He listed Adele and Alessia Cara as his dream female collaboration choices. “Alessia Cara has been killing the game recently. That would be really cool,” he said.
Rocky had nothing but the best remarks about performing at The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island. “That’s a great venue,” he exclaimed. “We love that venue. We’ve played there so many times.”
He defined the word success as “Being happy in life.” “Once you get all that you want, you are still going to be wanting more and you will never really quite satisfied. To find success you need to be content with where you are at all times, all while striving to be better,” he said.
Their new EP is available on iTunes. “I hope everybody is liking it and enjoying it as much as we enjoyed making it. There is plenty more to come in the future, so keep your ears ready,” he concluded.
