Singer-songwriter Robby Johnson chatted about his new country single “TGIF.”

“TGIF” is a deceptive drinking anthem disguised as a love song. The track opens with what appears to be a passionate dedication to a romantic interest, only to reveal that our protagonist’s true weekend love affair is with his beer.

On the origin of the new single, Johnson remarked, “I was playing a chord progression on the piano and the words just came out. I thought it would be a great love song, and it came out pretty good.”

Regarding his music and songwriting inspirations, he shared, “I guess it’s my personal life experience and what I witness around me, as I’ve always been interested in other people’s life story.”

“It’s also about giving back and hoping my music brings something to this world,” he added.

On his future plans for the rest of the year, he revealed, “To keep releasing the best music I can, and work hard to get on tour.”

Johnson listed Miley Cyrus as his dream female duet choice in music. “There are many female artists on my dream duet list, but I’d love to get the honor to sing with Miley Cyrus,” he explained.

For fans and viewers, he remarked about his “TGIF” single, “I want people to get a good smile and a pleasure 3.5 minutes that they’ll want to repeat over and over again for many years to come.”
