Rita Wilson to embark on headlining tour, to support new album

The songstress will release new original music with eponymous album this year. It will consist of original songs that she co-wrote, and she will embark on a tour this spring to promote her latest studio effort. It will include stops in such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Boston, Nashville, Chicago, among others. From February 23 until March 5, Wilson will be playing Café Carlyle in New York.

“I have truly loved writing songs,” Wilson remarked in a press release. “It’s opened up a new way to discover what you feel about something or a way to create something that is deeply personal or, perhaps, isn’t necessarily based on personal experience, but on an emotion or idea you want to explore.” She subsequently noted that she is excited to share her original songs with her musical audience.

Throughout her career, she has written songs with such esteemed Grammy-nominated songwriters as Jessi Alexander, Matraca Berg, Kristian Bush of the country duo Sugarland, Richard Marx, Kara DioGuardi and Jason Reeves, among others.

Aside from her musical endeavors, Wilson is a popular actress and film producer for the comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She is also the wife of Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks.
