Rheanna ‘Rhe’ Zotto talks about her music career and inspirations

Rheanna “Rhe” Zotto chatted about being a part of the “Emerging Artist Showcase” at Joanne Trattoria at the Upper West Side of New York City.

Rheanna “Rhe” Zotto chatted about being a part of the “Emerging Artist Showcase” at Joanne Trattoria at the Upper West Side of New York City.

She is a Queens-based singer-songwriter and composer. Her debut EP “Post-Mortem Postcards” is a folk-pop record that is available on streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify.

Rhe performs her original music across the five boroughs of NYC as a featured musician at various venues, including Off-Broadway at the Triad Theatre.

‘Emerging Artist Showcase’ performance

At the “Emerging Artist Showcase” at Joanne Trattoria, she performed “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Peaceful Easy Feeling” by the Eagles, as well as one of her original songs called “Mother Nature.” “The Eagles song I performed is a true classic,” she admitted.

Music and songwriting inspirations

On her music and songwriting inspirations, she shared, “I get a lot of inspiration from nature, actually, and traditional folk imagery… a lot of different imaginings of nature and where we fit into the natural world as people.”

Advice for young and emerging singer-songwriters

For young and aspiring musicians and artists, she encouraged them to “Just keep going even when you feel like you are not going anywhere.”

On the title of the current chapter of her life, she said, “Metamorphosis”

Biggest musical influences

Her greatest musical influences growing up were Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins. “These three are my favorites; they are absolutely so inspiring,” she exclaimed. “I am also a big Stephen Sondheim fan.”

Superpower of choice

When asked about her superpower of choice, Rhe said with a sweet laugh, “To have perfect pitch. Does that count?”

Future plans

Regarding her future plans, she said, “To keep doing this, keep performing, keep spreading music and supporting other emerging artists, and making a community.”

Rhe revealed that she is in the studio next week, where she will be working on a new album.

Success

On her definition of success, she expressed, “Success means having the courage to do something new.”
