Unlike their previous show, where they opened with “Homegrown,” this time Zac Brown Tribute Band changed it up a bit by kicking off their set with “Castaway,” and it was followed by “Keep Me in Mind” and the laid-back “Toes,” which showcased their soaring harmonies. Front-man Pete Frank interacted well with the audience.
Equally soothing was “Sweet Annie” and the same holds true for “As She’s Walking Away.” After “The Wind,” they went on to cover “Bohemian Rhapsody.” In the second part of their show, it was great to hear newer songs such as “Beautiful Drug” and of course, “Homegrown.”
Most impressive about Zac Brown Tribute Band is that they cover the actual songs that Zac Brown covers in his live concerts, which included Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” They closed with the atmospheric “Colder Weather,” where they displayed their velvet harmonies, as well as “Chicken Fried” and a medley of other hits.
Pete Frank nailed the lead vocals as Zac Brown, Matthew Stephens played the guitar and provided the backing vocals, while Tim Hull proved to be “all about that bass.” Mike Kedley was sensational on fiddle and banjo, while Jeremy Laursen killed the lead guitar. Taylor Smith was a great new addition to the band, where he played the keyboards.
The Verdict
Overall, Zac Brown Tribute Band knows to deliver each time they take the stage. They are the pride of Rochester and it is an absolute pleasure to hear them live each time they perform on Long Island. They earned five out of five stars.
